Dear Constituent,
Our tax-cutting Budget puts an extra £1,250 into the pocket of the average full-time earner in our constituency next year. This week I closed the Budget debate in the House of Commons on behalf of the Government.
This week was also the start of English Tourism Week - an opportunity for us to celebrate the great venues and destinations at the heart of our communities. I joined Visit Herts to look at the new exhibition at North Herts Museum in Hitchin to mark Tourism Week!
We all know the important role that local pubs play in our rural communities. That’s why our campaign to save the Plough in King’s Walden is so important - and why I am delighted to confirm that the application to change the pub into a private residence has now been withdrawn.
But great local pubs and destinations are only a small part of what makes a fantastic community. On Friday I was in Cockernhoe and Mangrove Green with Bloor Homes and the Crown Estate to discuss all the necessary infrastructure they need to deliver if Councillors give them the nod to build at East of Luton. We’ve already agreed that a GP surgery should be delivered early on to serve our rural communities.
Read the newsletter in full to find out about all this and more from this week!
Yours,
Bim
