I met with Andy Haldane, a senior economist formerly at the Bank of England who has also been doing work with the Department for Levelling Up, to discuss financial services and the levelling up agenda. As Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Financial Markets and Services, I am leading a Commission working on the role that financial services can play in levelling up and how we can level up financial services itself - including things like ensuring access to cash and banking services for local communities.
