I was pleased to be informed that our local health system is now ready to roll out much more accessible ways to get your booster vaccination for Covid. There are now a number of ways to get your local booster.
For people who are immunosuppressed
I am told that GP practices are working with hospital consultants to identify, contact and then vaccinate immunosuppressed patients at high risk of serious disease if infected, who urgently need a third ‘primary’ dose of the jab, together with their household contacts, and boosters. These high-risk individuals only need to wait for a minimum of eight weeks after getting their second dose of the vaccine, not six months. To see a complete list of those advised to get a third ‘primary dose’, see here.
For people who are not immuno-suppressed
Everyone who is eligible for their booster (ie six months [182 days] have elapsed since the second dose of vaccine) can now book an appointment online here or by ringing 119 for a booster dose.
You can also go to a drop in centres without appointment. These currently include:
• Hemel Hempstead Hospital, Hillfield Road, Hemel Hempstead, HP2 4AD
• Letchworth Garden City - former Argos Store, Garden Square Shopping Centre, Letchworth Garden City, SG6 3DP
• Redbourn Community Centre, 63 High Street, Redbourn, St Albans. AL3 7LW
