This month, many of you have filled in my survey to share your experiences and thoughts on crime in your local area. I was very pleased that so many people took the time to share their views, which will inform my work to make our area safer and which highlighted a number of areas of concern for residents.
Residents also indicated a desire to see a greater police presence locally. Respondents wanted to see more officers, more visible patrols and more regular patrols and I will be communicating this to the local police force. Hertfordshire now has record numbers of police officers and I will work with Ministerial colleagues and the Police & Crime Commissioner to ensure that Hitchin & Harpenden gets our fair share to keep people safe in our towns and villages.
I was pleased, however, to see most of you note that you do indeed feel safe-especially when online, in shops and at work. I will continue to do all that I can to ensure that Hitchin & Harpenden is an area where you can feel safe, and I urge you to keep sharing your views and thoughts on this issue.
