After nearly five years of Lib Dem delays on local planning in St. Albans have left our greenbelt at risk, over Christmas the Secretary of State has now been forced to intervene to ask the Council to publish an updated timetable to ensure that it can have a new Local Plan in place before the deadline to submit plans under the current system. I have significant concerns about the draft Local Plan which includes vast swathes of local greenbelt - and I urge the Council to make some urgent progress towards delivering a plan which protects our communities from excessive greenbelt development.
