Hitchin Member of Parliament Bim Afolami MP visited Genevation Ltd. on Friday (3rd February) at Stevenage’s Bioscience Catalyst Hub to hear about their work on personalised cancer vaccines. Genevation – an innovative biotech start-up recently launched in Stevenage – invited the MP to come along to discuss local funding and support available for small businesses in the area and to see their lab space and hear more about the work they are doing.
Mr Afolami hailed their work and vowed to continue working to support the brilliant and innovative businesses setting up shop in Hitchin, Harpenden and the villages.
Bim Afolami MP said,
“We have some brilliantly innovative local businesses working on real cutting edge technology and research. It was a real pleasure to meet with a constituent on this visit to their business – Genevation Ltd – and to hear about the fantastic work they are doing on personalised cancer vaccines. Real world-leading, cutting-edge research happening right on our doorstep in Hitchin & Harpenden.
“It was good to discuss local support available for small businesses and how we can work together to support their continued growth and development in Hertfordshire. I’ll continue to do everything I can locally and in Westminster to attract investment, jobs and entrepreneurship to our communities and to help fantastic local enterprises like Genevation to thrive.”
Dr Prasun Chakraborty, Founder and CEO of Genevation LTD, said he was glad that Bim Afolami visited and extended his support. “For SMEs, it is a big opportunity to grow with government support. It was surprising to see Bim's involvement and curiosity about understanding the work of Generation LTD with development and manufacture of personalised cancer vaccines.”
