Local Member of Parliament Bim Afolami MP visited Pirton Recreation Ground on Thursday (19th January) to meet with members of Pirton Parish Council and representatives from Pirton-based football club Lea Sports PSG and hear about plans for a new pavilion.
The pavilion will be a modern, sustainable amenity to replace the existing 1970s building at the Recreation Ground and serve village groups, including the youth group and sports clubs – including football, tennis and cricket. The Parish Council are seeking to raise funds to contribute towards the project and have set up a GoFundMe page online here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/new-pavilion-at-pirton.
Mr Afolami arranged to visit and find out more about the new pavilion after reading about the fundraising project in an edition of the Pirton Magazine – a local village circular.
Bim Afolami MP said,
“It is always fantastic to see new local amenities in our towns and villages and it was great to hear more about the plans for a new modern pavilion on Pirton Recreation Ground to serve local people. We had a productive discussion about the project, the benefits that it could bring to Pirton residents – and indeed those from the wider local community – and the ongoing fundraising efforts that they have been undertaking to deliver it.
“I would encourage everyone to check out their GoFundMe and give their support to this brilliant local amenity, which I know will serve residents well for generations. I look forward to seeing it completed!”
