Dear Constituent,
The UK has an internationally competitive financial services sector and continues to be a key player in the global economy. This week I was in Toronto, New York and Washington D.C. to promote the UK’s economy and strengthen our ties on financial services.
And locally - Hitchin, Harpenden and the villages continue to be some of the best places to live, work and spend time. The latest evidence for this comes from the fantastic news that Manland School in Harpenden is in the top 1% for phonics and the nomination of the brilliant Red Lion pub in Preston to be the East of England’s Pub of the Year.
But the success of our communities doesn’t come automatically. That’s why this week I’ve continued my efforts to secure a new GP surgery to serve our villages and written to the Secretary of State over the future of the Ickleford Equestrian Centre - a vital local amenity. It is also why I’m deeply concerned about the news that the St. Albans Local Plan has been delayed again - putting our greenbelt at risk.
Read on to find out about everything I’ve been up to this week!
Yours,
Bim
