Local people in Hitchin & Harpenden have told me about the impact that rising global energy prices are having on their household finances this year. As we tackle the twin problems of global energy price shocks (caused in no small part by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine) and structurally high energy demand, the issue of insulation is more important than ever.
This week as Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Renewable and Sustainable Energy, it was a pleasure to chair a frank and engaging panel discussing Citizens Advice’s Insulation Nation paper, which looks in detail at how improving energy efficiency can save households in Hitchin & Harpenden up to £950 per year their energy bills.
