This week the JCVI has recommended that young people aged 16-17 who are not in an at risk group should now be offered a second dose of the Pfizer vaccine. The second vaccine dose should be given 12 weeks or more following the first vaccine dose. For those who have had proven COVID-19 infection and a first dose of vaccine, the second vaccine dose should be given 12 weeks or more following the first vaccine dose, or 12 weeks following COVID-19 infection, whichever is later.
The JCVI has also now recommended that those aged 40-49 should be offered a booster vaccination against COVID-19, six months after their second dose.
