Venture capital and private equity play a major role in backing a whole number of fast growing British businesses, including in Hitchin, Harpenden and the villages - they are part of the lifeblood of our start-up system. On Tuesday, I had the honour of opening the British Venture Capital Association’s event in Parliament, meeting a whole number of businesses benefitting from this kind of investment, and introducing the Chancellor to talk about how the Government is backing these industries.
