On Saturday, a comprehensive package of measures was announced that will support the safe and successful reopening of our wonderful high streets - giving local economies a vital kickstart ahead of what will hopefully be a great summer.
This includes:
- A £56 million Welcome Back Fund that will give councils the funding they need to improve green spaces and provide more outdoor seating areas. marketing and food stalls.
- Giving businesses such as pubs and restaurants the flexibility to set up marquees and extra outdoor seating
- Introducing a series of fairer parking measures that will encourage people to return to High Streets and Town Centres
I know how difficult it has been for businesses on our high streets over the last year, and I am determined to ensure that they have the support they need as we move into recovery, and build back better from the pandemic.
