Hertfordshire will benefit from more than £2.3m of funding after the COVID Local Support Grant has been extended until the end of September. This vital funding pot helps the County Council to support its most vulnerable residents with the cost of food, utilities and other essentials and this extension, along with the scaled up Holiday Activities and Food programme, will mean that targeted help for families on Free School Meals can be provided over the summer holidays.
Councils are the best placed body to deliver this kind of support – being both local and responsive to resident needs and what works best in their communities. I am very pleased that they will be able to continue the fantastic job they have been doing supporting our most vulnerable residents over the coming months with this funding.
