St. Ippolyts and Gosmore are beautiful places to live. As your Member of Parliament, I’m working to ensure that they stay that way over the longer term – and to support local residents with their concerns.
Since last year’s annual report, I’ve spent a lot of time in the villages – whether that be meeting a group in St. Ippolyts to discuss the installation of 5G masts, opening Maydencroft’s Jubilee Barn, celebrating the King’s coronation at a local street party, or hosting my office team for Christmas dinner in a Gosmore pub, it is always a pleasure to visit.
In the coming year I will continue to visit the villages when I can and assist you with any concerns that you may have – I know, for example, that local development proposals continue to cause a great deal of concern and I am monitoring them closely. I will also be working to deliver on my priorities for you.
That means working to protect our beautiful natural environment by extending the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty across our area – recognising our precious Chilterns landscapes and delivering new powers to protect our countryside and local chalk streams like Ippollitts Brook.
I’m opposing any expansion of Luton Airport – protecting our communities from the excessive increases in noise and air pollution and traffic congestion it would bring.
I want to deliver 10% more jobs and apprenticeships for local people – taking advantage of the planned growth of London and Cambridge to turn Hitchin into a town of opportunity.
We’re improving safety on our streets and in our communities – with record numbers of police officers now in Hertfordshire. Working with local police and our communities I want to tackle issues around road safety and rural crime to make our villages even safer.
It is so important that everyone has access to high quality healthcare. We’ve secured funding for a new local Cancer Hospital and now I’m working to deliver a new GP surgery to serve our community.
And we must tackle traffic congestion in Hitchin. That’s why I’m working to deliver projects like the new Eastern access to Hitchin Station which will reduce traffic and congestion by making it easier for people to walk and cycle to the Station.
It is a privilege to be your Member of Parliament. I’ll continue to work hard every day to repay the trust you put in me to represent our fantastic local communities.
