In Hitchin & Harpenden, we are fortunate to have a significant number of the world's chalk streams. These rare habitats are a hugely valuable ecological resource and it is vitally important that we protect and enhance them. The Government's Chalk Streams Strategy and measures in last year's Environment Act include positive action for our streams. This week I wrote to the Secretary of State to set out what steps the Government is taking to enhance our chalk streams in Hitchin & Harpenden.
