Bim Afolami MP, Member of Parliament for Hitchin & Harpenden, visited Kingfisher Court – which provides adult acute mental health care and specialist support and care for those with learning difficulties – in Radlett on Friday (16th June).
Kingfisher Court opened in 2014 and comes after a £42m investment to support the Trust to deliver world class inpatient care.
The Member of Parliament was joined by Sarah Betteley, Chair of the Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, to tour the site and discuss some of the work that is being done to improve care and support patients.
Bim Afolami MP said,
“As the son of an NHS doctor and a pharmacist, I grew up seeing first hand the impact that top class healthcare can have on people’s lives.
“You’ve told me that one of your top priorities for our communities is to deliver fantastic local healthcare provision. We’re making real progress on that goal – from investment in a new cancer hospital for our region; a new hospital at Watford; new facilities at the Lister, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans; and much more.
“On Friday it was great to visit Kingfisher Court – where amazing support is already being provided for people in our community needing specialist care and treatment. Our discussions centred around the amazing work and environment they are creating to support people and how we can continue to improve local services, so that people right across Hitchin, Harpenden and the villages can access world class healthcare.
“Together, we will continue to work to deliver that goal.”
